G.A.R. Veterans Were Prominent Citizens Here Following Civil War

(See picture at right.) Members of the John Baird Post No. 38 G. A. R., Virden, Ill., were portrayed in a photo by Tankersly made in 1891. Many of Virden’s prominent early citizens were former “boys in blue.”
